New blog 11/26/2008

I now have a public blog on WordPress.

http://vanicthoughts.wordpress.com

We'll see how this goes.  For the record, I'm still going to be periodically updating this Weebly site, and I'm not leaving LiveJournal.  The benefit to the WordPress site is to express certain thoughts publicly without cluttering up the Weebly site (which I'm trying to keep simple, or at least coherent).

Anyway, feel free to check it out, or not, as you like.

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow to those who celebrate.

And we're back. 11/20/2008

Because I like to be fabulous, periodically the site gets updated both in look and content.  Right now I'm trying to make the site more cohesive of Vanatru-in-general + a few of the quirks of my own personal practice.

From now through Yule, I have a holiday banner and the animation on the index page is of me on Yulefather's lap.  (And why yes, I have been naughty.  Do you even have to ask?)

However, the site has a notable change, and that is in the title.  I am now calling this site A Vanic Druid's Hearth.  Why?

When I was younger, say around 12-13, I used to tell people I was a Druid.  No, I didn't know about any of the organizations such as OBOD, only that "they worshipped nature and stuff".

I am but one Vanatruar, I am not the Vanapope, and do not presume to speak for all Vanatruar and Vanir-friends, despite the fact that my site comes up on the first page when you Google "Vanatru".  I have been getting some (visionary, spirit-taught) glimpses of what a Vanic practice might have looked like, and it does resemble Druidry, being nature-focused and with some ceremonial aesthetics.

I have known for awhile that I am not allowed to hide and that as much as I would prefer to hermit myself and live under a rock, the time has come to be a Freysgydhia, as He had consecrated me on Lammas 2007.  I don't claim to have everything together and it looks like I will be refining my practice into something more formal and aesthetically pleasing and meaningful over the next 1-2 years.  I hope to learn something new every day, and always improve my practice and I think that people should always be inspired to go further, do better, in their spirituality.  My current spiritual direction means I cannot be the hiding hedgewitch anymore, but must go forward and "play with others", learning priestcraft and doing priestcraft.

So, it was time to update the site to reflect that change.

Blessings,
Siggy
